Doing research that matters: A success story from statistics education is the first report in a new series called TLRI Project Plus. The series aims to add value to the TLRI by synthesising findings across multiple projects.

This report focuses on two projects in statistics education that were partnerships between statisticians, researchers and teachers. It explores the factors that contributed to the success of these projects.

Although the context for this report is statistics education, the discussion has much wider relevance to those with an interest in how teaching and learning research can generate new knowledge and also have an impact on practice. The report discusses how these two projects had impact on multiple fronts, including reaching classroom teachers, contributing to curriculum development and attracting international interest. In this way it illustrates the strategic value, research value, and practice value outcomes aspired to in TLRI projects.
